Page Views
Page Views refer to the number of times a specific page (as defined by the analyst) is loaded or refreshed in a web browser. Each time a user visits a webpage, it counts as one page view. This metric helps in understanding how often a particular piece of content is being viewed.
- Customizable: Analysts can define what qualifies as a “page,” allowing for flexibility in tracking various types of content, such as PDFs or media files.
- Not Always a Typical Web Page: Technologies like Flash, AJAX, or XML feeds may be counted as pages, depending on how the analytics tool is set up.
- Status Codes and Errors: Web server responses like errors (404) or redirects (302) generally do not count as page views unless specifically configured to do so.
